LA vs. Detroit Likely Pitchers
Since joining the Halos after spending more than two weeks in the miners to figure things out, Detmers has done just that for the most part. Over six starts since July 8, the 24-year-old rookie went 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 36 innings. LA only went 3-3 in that stretch, but the guy who went no-hitter earlier this season also finished a clean inning against Texas on July 31.
Reid Detmers continues to throw exceptionally well after being sent off for a short stint.

The southpaw went five innings in his final round last Saturday against the Twins, allowing five hits, two earned runs and three walks while striking out nine in an eventual 5-3 Angels victory.
Meanwhile, fellow southpaw Alexander has failed to have similar success in 2022. Detroit is 0-8 in cornering for the 28-year-old this season and just 3-15 in his appearances overall. On the bright side, the former second-round pick has been throwing well lately. In his last three outings, he’s gone 17 runs with a 3.71 ERA.
Alexander went five innings in his last start Sunday against the White Sox, allowing six hits, three earned runs and three walks while striking out two in a 5-3 loss.
Detmers vs. Alexander Stats
Patrick Sandoval set the table very well for Detmers in Game 1 of the series, throwing a complete shutout in a 1-0 win over the Motor City Kitties. It’s the first time the franchise has had at least two full games in the same season (with Detmers’ non-hitter on May 10 being the other) since 2016. Jared Walsh provided the only offense including LA needed in the second run.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway? Mike Trout was back in the Angels roster on Friday for the first time since July 12. The three-time AL MVP went 1 for 4 with a pair of strikeouts. Having Shohei Ohtani and Trout hitting 1-2 in the lineup certainly gives LA an edge.

Meanwhile, Detroit’s disastrous season continued Friday. After being shut out, the Tigers are now 8-21 since the break and a measly 4-14 in August. Things got so bad at Motown that the franchise parted ways with Avila – who had been with the organization since 2002. Highly touted rookie Spencer Torkelson was sent to the minors last month, fellow compatriot Riley Greene won’t. hits that .224 and The acquisition of free agent Javier Baez cuts a measly .225/.267/.375. Fortunately, this team still has Miguel Cabrera.
Miguel Cabrera is a career .400/.400/.708 hitter when he swings the first pitch, which he did in 1457 AB. It’s absurd.

Prediction Angels vs Tigers
Detmers’ slider has become one of the most devastating throws in all of baseball since returning from the minors. With the Tigers posting the worst record of the bigs since the break, there’s no reason to think they can solve Angel’s throw after being whitewashed on Friday.
Plus, with Trout back, LA is the clear favorite there.
