Irene Yesson Jorda, 93, of Shavertown, was called from her home to eternal life by the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.
Irene was a devout Catholic who offered her pain and suffering daily to the Sacred Heart as well as to Our Lady of Fatima.
Born in 1928 in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Charles Yesson. After graduating from Edwardsville High School, Irene enrolled in Wilkes-Barre Business School and soon after began working for the Social Security Administration and then was fortunate enough to find a home. with Sordoni Company, Forty Fort. Irene then took her talents to the Commonwealth Telephone Company, Dallas, Wyoming Quality Beverage, Wyoming, and Falcone Beverage, Pittston. Irene was the only known person in her family to have met Budweiser’s Spuds McKenzie!
Irene has been married to her high school sweetheart, George M. Jorda, for 70 years. Together they raised six grown children whom the Lord had blessed them with.
In addition to her late parents, Irene was predeceased by her beloved sister, Mary Anne Harris; and his charming brother, Charles Jr .; and of course the love of his life, George, in 2020.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Maureen, a resident of the White Haven Center; son, Deacon John C., Dallas; daughters, Georgine, Dallas; Michelle Kapral and her husband, Gerald, Dallas; daughter, Janel Jorda and Karla Youngblood, Northampton, Mass .; and his son, Charles and his wife, Susan, Dallas.
Irene was also blessed by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Irene was a member of Sainte-Thérèse parish in Shavertown, as well as their Altar and Rosary Society and the parish prayer group.
Irene’s family would like to extend warm thanks to the angels at Hospice du Sacré-Coeur in Dunmore, who took care of her as her days grew shorter. Thank you to all of our friends who were there for us when Mum needed you.
The Christian Burial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Sainte-Thérèse Church, 64 Davis Street, Shavertown, with the much-loved Reverend James Paisley as officiant.
Arrangements are under the direction of Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Irene’s name to St. Therese Church in Shavertown or the Hospice du Sacré-Cœur in Dunmore.
