To obtain the Incantation Scarab helmet in Elden Ring, Ternished must solve the painting puzzle in the artist’s cabin in East Limgrave.
The Scarab Incantation is a helmet made of Ring of Elden which functions similarly to the Brilliance Scarab, but instead of reducing the FP cost of sorceries, the helmet reduces mana consumption for casting. However, this buff comes at the cost of reduced damage negation, resulting in more damage received from enemies. Still, adventurers skilled at dodging and dodging attacks will find great use for this spellbound helmet in Ring of Elden.
To acquire the Casting Scarab, Travelers must first examine and solve the Instinct Painting puzzle back in the Artist’s Hut. The location of the hut is in the northeast of Limgrave, on the east side of the river from Lake Agheel. Tarni can reach the Artist’s Hut by traveling north from Elleh’s Church and rolling east from the Gate Ruins. Next, head north after crossing the walkway, taking the off-road path to the cabin. After arriving, the player can interact with the board to spawn the Spell Beetle.
The Casting Scarab is located in the area below Lake Agheel, southwest of the Burnt Dragon Ruins at Ring of Elden. Ternished can easily reach this location by quickly going to Grace’s first stage site and going straight east. Be aware of giant bats as you walk through the rough terrain.

Look for a cluster of tombstones next to a large, collapsed arch. Ghost artist Homing Instinct Painting will appear briefly before vanishing in the wind, leaving Incantation Scarab behind. Travelers who have yet to explore much of the world may not find much use for the Incantation Scarab due to the lack of usable incantations. Luckily, once the player has progressed enough in the world, either by going to multiple Grace Sites or by defeating Margit, Melina will visit the protagonist and teleport them to the Roundtable Hold. In this central slot, Ternished can purchase new Faith Spells from Brother Corhyn, allowing the Casting Scarab to become more practical equipment in Ring of Elden.
