SAN ANGELO, TX — Knights of Columbus Holy Angelos Catholic Church Council 12008 has received the Star Council Award, the international organization’s highest honor for local councils.
The Star Council Award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership growth, promotion of Knights of Columbus insurance benefits, sponsorship of Catholic faith formation programs, and volunteer time by through service-oriented activities.
Council 12008’s charitable work over the past year has included thousands of dollars in monetary donations and other forms of support to organizations including:
- Angelo Catholic School,
- Local Catholic charities,
- Support campaign for Ukraine,
- The Concho Valley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, and
- many other causes that support those in need.
Council 12008 is known throughout the city for its bi-annual BBQ at Holy Angels, the next of which goes on sale in September.
“Our Council strives to lead the way as Catholic men pledge to support each of us and our community with dedication to the principles of charity, unity and brotherhood,” Grand Knight Eric Quisenberry said. “This award reflects the countless hours of work by so many of our brother Knights and challenges us to rise in the years to come.”
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to men 18 years of age or older who are practical (i.e., practicing) Catholics in union with the Holy See.
