It was the 12e Kenya’s annual kick-off, the race to save orphans.

Proceeds from this event support the Secondary Education Fund for KWO Ministries (Kenya Widows and Orphans Ministries – a Midland-based nonprofit organization that funds 16 children’s homes and 21 feeding programs serving orphans and children. widows in rural Kenya).

The ministry was an outgrowth of evangelistic work at the Golf Course Road Church of Christ that established dozens of churches in Kenya. Many of these churches had hearts for orphans and widows and began to help them as best they could on their own.

In 2005, some members of GCR then joined them with a small funding to help with food. This support has grown steadily since and in 2011 KWO became an independent non-profit organization. More than 2,700 orphans and widows receive care under a program funded by KWO. KWO Ministries also runs a vocational training center for our graduate orphans to give them the skills they need to get a good job in the local economy.
