Mary M. Koogle 1928 – 2022


PARSONS – Mary M. Koogle, 94, longtime resident of Parsons, died at 8:02 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home.

She was born on January 8, 1928 in Great Bend, Kan. Daughter of Harley Emmett and Helen Marie (Jackson) Price. Mary grew up and attended schools in Great Bend, graduating from Great Bend High School in 1946.

She worked at the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Great Bend as a switchboard operator and later in the business office.

On September 2, 1961, she married Warren S. Koogle in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2022.

She worked with her husband in the family business, Star Cleaners, in Great Bend. In 1978 she moved to Parsons where she and her husband owned and operated Koogle’s Quality Cleaners until their retirement in 1998.

Mary was a member of Parsons First Christian Church. She loved to sew, crochet and paint in watercolours.

She is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Swob of Great Bend, Kan., Terri Sprenkle of Independence, Kan., Jennifer Hurst of Parsons, Kan., and Rachel Koogle of Parsons, Kan.; ten grandchildren, Christopher Swob of Denver, Colorado, Benjamin Swob of Sioux City, Iowa, Sarah Cooper of Parsons, Kan., Charles Cooper of Independence, Kan., Thomas Cooper of Independence, Kan., Taylor Bettles Of Lawrence , Kan. , Shelby Bettles of Lawrence, Kan., Kristina Good of Parsons, Kan., Madison Walters of Joplin, Mo., and Nicholas Matthews of Parsons, Kan.; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Price of Fort Collins, Colorado; and one sister, Judy Smith of Great Bend, Kan. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her son, Dale Allen; one brother, Larry Price; and a sister, Patricia Thompson.

Memorial services for Mary and Warren will be held at noon, Saturday, April 16 at First Christian Church with the Reverend Laurie Lewis officiating. Interment will take place at Great Bend Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at their convenience.
