Nikita Tszyu vs Ben Horn weigh-in, Justin Hodges vs Jordan Simi, news, how to watch, full card, preview

He has to wait until Wednesday night’s ‘Battle of the Brothers’ to step into the ring against undefeated rising star Nikita Tszyu, but Ben Horn is definitely eager to go – something that was made all too clear when he wore his boxing jersey for Tuesday’s weigh-in.

Horn took the scales in his fight night outfit, but his bizarre costume choice immediately backfired when he just missed the super welterweight limit coming in at 69.94kg.

Luckily for Horn, since Wednesday’s main act isn’t a title fight, Tszyu’s camp was prepared to avoid any weigh-in drama and allowed his rival to keep his jersey on rather than strip down to reach the weight limit.

Tszyu had no such problems, weighing in at 69.06kg, before the pair looked at each other ahead of Wednesday night’s encounter – Horn now wearing pants over his boxing singlet.

It comes almost two years after brother Tim Tszyu stopped Ben’s brother Jeff Horn in Townsville – although Nikita isn’t promising another knockout this time around.

Both fighters are extremely confident, however, and Horn said at the weigh-in, “My hand is up again, like I said.”

Horn also told Fox Sports after the weigh-in: “No, I had my mate weigh in, if I had dropped my underwear I would be fine.

“It was 15 grams, it was nothing.”

Meanwhile, former NRL star Justin Hodges will enter tomorrow’s fight with social media figure Jordan Simi, a whopping 8kg lighter than his rival, who cut a terrifying figure at Tuesday’s weigh-in .

The pair exchanged vicious verbal jabs at Monday’s press conference but were happy to shake hands at the weigh-in – although there’s no doubt the fists will indeed fly on Wednesday.

Simi weighed in at 109.22kg for their heavyweight bout, before declaring, “I’m going for the knockout. We are both heavyweights. Justin said yesterday that someone was getting knocked out, so I’m just focusing on that.

Hodges was much lighter at 101.90 kg. He said: “I’m not worried about what’s at stake… It’s a new challenge, that’s why I got into the sport – to challenge myself.”

Seeing his towering rival weigh in, Hodges said he wasn’t scared: “He’s just another man. That’s all it is. I also played in rugby league against massive men. The old adage says that the bigger they are, the more they fall. I’m not afraid of anything. »

Elsewhere, Irishman Darragh Foley, who delivered the ‘fight of the decade’ in December 2020, didn’t mince words ahead of his fight with Hunter Ioane.

Foley said, “It’s one thing to call the devil, it’s another to see him coming. Hunter will become hunted Wednesday night.
