Robert Barry Franklin, 76, died peacefully at home after a long illness with his family by his side on March 1, 2022.
Barry was born in Savannah, Georgia and has lived here his entire life. He was a graduate of Savannah High School and Georgia Military College. He owned and operated Franklin Painting and Restoration, a family business that started with his grandfather. Barry was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he held many positions over the years. He was also a former member of Gideon International.
Barry will always be remembered for his storytelling and can-do attitude in any situation. He believed in looking forward with God in mind. Barry was a faithful and loving husband to Brenda for 47 years and a wonderful father and grandfather. Many have been lucky and blessed to call him their friend. He was a champion for anyone who needed it. He loved animals and had a passion for animal rescue.
Barry is predeceased by his parents, Robert Lester Franklin, Jr., and Laura Carmen Franklin.
Barry is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Hook Franklin; his daughter, Laura Franklin Ross (Steve); his grandsons, Gabe, Eli and Zeke Ross; his sister, Camilla Ann Linton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Grace United Methodist Church with a service immediately following at noon.
